Solidifying their position as Ventura County’s top high school legal eagles, the all-girls team from La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks won a fourth consecutive countywide Mock Trial championship last weekend.
The team will travel to Sacramento in April to compete in the state finals.
Students from 15 local high schools participated in the 14th annual Mock Trial contest last week, playing roles as attorneys, witnesses and courtroom staff while arguing a real-life criminal case before judges and attorneys at the county Hall of Justice in Ventura.
La Reina finished ahead of Buena High School after Saturday’s final rounds. Westlake High was third and Thousand Oaks High was fourth.
La Reina has captured first place six times in the last seven years.
Last year, the team went on to place 10th out of 27 high schools at the state level.
