Block’s Quotes on Patti LuPone

I would first like to thank you for having my talents featured in the Calendar section of the Los Angeles Times Orange County Edition (“Praising Her Voice,” Feb. 18).
Upon reading the article, I came across a section that was terribly inaccurate. The reporter wrote of the television series “Life Goes On” and my involvement in this project and stated that the show was a “short-lived ABC drama.” In actuality, the acclaimed television program continued with high ratings for several years.
He also wrote that I portrayed the character role of Becca, yet Becca was the series’ lead. I played a featured character, Sarah, one of Becca’s school friends.
Also quoted were derogatory remarks regarding [series star] Patti LuPone’s demeanor and work ethics. My statements regarding Ms. LuPone were: “I respected her work as an actress, and that when the curtain went up or when the cameras were on, she knew the business like no other.”
In reference to her as a co-worker, I answered the reporter’s question with what I had heard: that there are rumors of her being difficult, but “I see this as a strong woman doing what she needs to do to stay afloat in this industry.”
All other quotes or comments must have been a miscommunication.
