Opportunities for Volunteering

The Family Stress Center in Panorama City needs volunteers to work with abused preschoolers and toddlers in play-therapy groups. Volunteers are also needed to work with parents of abused children in a supervised group setting. A strong background in psychology is required. Volunteers are needed for three-hour shifts in the afternoons or early evenings. A one-year commitment is required. The East Valley Multipurpose Senior Center needs a creative arts and crafts teacher. The class will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the center, 5000 Colfax Ave., North Hollywood. The volunteer should be easygoing and patient. Call (818) 766-5165.

SHC Specialty Hospital, 4415 S. Lakeview Canyon Road, Westlake Village, needs computer-literate volunteers to help visitors research cancer information at the new Patient Resource Center. During four-hour shifts, volunteers help visitors find information by using books, audiotapes, videos, CD-ROMS and the Internet.
