In Big West softball:

Cal State Fullerton 8-2, Utah 5-1--Donna Coombes, who had four strikeouts, pitched a complete-game five-hitter in the second game of a doubleheader.

In the first game, winning pitcher Jana Oetgen hit a home run and was two for four with two RBIs in the 8-2 Cal State Fullerton victory.

Cal State Fullerton improved to 17-17. Utah is 13-24.

In nonconference softball:

Southern California College 1-1, UC San Diego 0-0--Gretchen Brandt pitched a no-hitter, striking out seven for SCC (13-27-1). Heather Rogers was two for three and had the game-winning RBI in the first inning for the Vanguards.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Jennifer Miskov scored the only run on a passed ball in a 1-0 victory for SCC.

In nonconference women’s tennis:

UC San Diego 8, Southern California College 1--Serena Xie won the lone set, 6-2, 6-0, for Southern California College.

In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:

UC Santa Barbara 3, UC Irvine 0--Donny Harris had 31 kills and Adam Renfree had 51 assists to lead UC Santa Barbara (15-7, 12-5) to a 15-10, 15-4, 15-13 victory.

UCI (6-17, 4-15) was led by Chris Harger with 28 kills and Cory Hinkle with 46 assists.
