In Century League volleyball:
Foothill 3, El Modena 2--James Dodgen had 30 kills for visiting Foothill (4-5, 3-2), which rallied to win, 13-15, 7-15, 15-12, 15-7, 17-15. The Knights trailed, 11-1, in Game 3 and fought off three match points in Game 5.
In the Garden Grove League:
Pacifica 3, La Quinta 2--La Quinta was serving with a 15-14 lead in the fifth game, but Pacifica won the next three points and the match, 15-6, 15-5, 1-15, 10-15, 17-15.
In Century League baseball:
Canyon 7, Villa Park 6--Jeff Leuenberger replaced Mike Tomarelli with the bases loaded and struck out two consecutive batters to end the game. Jason Corapci was three for four for fifth-ranked Canyon.
El Modena 7, Santa Ana Valley 6--Aaron Smith retired one batter to record the save for El Modena (5-11-1, 1-7).
Smith came on in relief with two outs, runners on first and second, and a 2-0 count on the batter. Smith also had a two-run double in a four-run fourth to give El Modena a 7-5 lead.
Foothill 8, Orange 6--Adam Tarbutton had three hits, two RBIs and a run scored and Chad Concolino had two hits and three stolen bases for visiting Foothill (13-3, 8-0), ranked fifth in Division III.
In the Olympic League:
Calvary Chapel 6, Ontario Christian 0--John Tucker (6-4) pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts for Calvary Chapel (9-8, 7-1). Tucker walked two to spoil the perfect game.
In Century League golf:
Villa Park 194, Canyon 212--Geoff Cohn shot a one-under-par 34 at Anaheim Hills to lead third-ranked Villa Park (10-1, 6-0). Grant Moulden and Brad Blank led Canyon (6-7, 3-2), shooting 37.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 190, Cypress 215--Junior Corey Fox shot his best round of the season, recording three birdies, to finish with a two-under-par 33 for El Dorado (12-3, 4-1) at Cypress Country Club.
In the Golden West League:
Servite 181, Westminster 247--Will Luciano shot a one-over 34 for fourth-ranked Servite (8-4, 3-0) at Fullerton Golf Course.
In the Orange League:
Valencia 196, Western 226--Brian Birkinshaw shot a two-under 35 at Alta Vista and Dalen DeMary shot a 36 for Valencia (12-3, 5-1), which qualified for the playoffs for the 11th consecutive season.
In the Pacific Coast League:
University 186, Laguna Hills 205--Joe Chang finished with four birdies to break even on the par 36 at the Laguna Hills Golf Club for top-ranked University (13-0, 7-0).
In the Sunset League:
Marina 376, Edison 390--Scott Osterhout shot a one-under-par 69 at Meadowlark to lead Marina (4-9, 1-4). Ryan Michas led Edison (9-4, 2-3) with an even-par 70.
In Sunset League boys’ swimming:
Los Alamitos 94, Edison 93--The Griffins, ranked sixth in the county, needed first- and second-place finishes in the final race, the 400 freestyle relay, to win the meet. Mike Harrelson won the 500 freestyle (4:48.65) and 200 individual medley (2:01.10).
In Sunset League girls’ swimming:
Fountain Valley 118, Huntington Beach 68--Fountain Valley, ranked second in the county, swept the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle events. Kristen Tjoa won the fly in 1:02.58 and teammate Grace Wang finished in 56.52 in the freestyle.
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 14, Valencia 7--Scott Koller has won 48 straight sets after sweeping his singles sets, 6-0, 6-0, and winning his doubles set, 6-3, for Brea Olinda (9-8, 5-1).
In the Sea View League:
Santa Margarita 11, Newport Harbor 7--Fifth-ranked Santa Margarita won eight of nine doubles sets, including a 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 sweep by Andrew Tsu and Cody Shedd.
