3 Children Killed in Van Fire

Three children were killed and their mother injured in Commerce when the van they were in caught fire, officials said. The incident occurred about 8 p.m. in the 4100 block of East Washington Boulevard, said a spokesman for the county Sheriff’s Department. The cause of the fire was under investigation Sunday night.

The woman, who was driving the Ford van, suffered burns over 50% of her body and was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, a county Fire Department dispatcher said.

Her children, whose ages were not available, were pronounced dead at the scene.
