Kinko’s Inc. said it acquired closely held Electronic Demand Publishing Inc., a Rochester, N.Y.-based document management company, to help build its corporate business. The Ventura-based retail copying and business services company did not disclose the terms of the transaction. Privately held Kinko’s said it will make Electronic Demand the core of a new corporate document division based in Rochester. John M. Lacagnina, Electronic Demand’s chief executive, will be the unit’s president. Kinko’s expansion into the corporate market follows a $214-million equity investment last year by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice Inc., a New York investment firm. Electronic Demand, with about 110 employees, produces printed and electronic documents for corporations. Kinko’s employs more than 23,000 people and operates about 850 locations worldwide.
