Secession Fever: First the school district. Then the city of Los Angeles. Now the county. It seems that breakup fever is contagious. The idea that smaller might be better got its latest boost Thursday, when an Assembly committee approved a bill that could lead to a study on dividing L.A. County in two. Assemblyman George Runner (R-Lancaster), who wrote the measure, says: “It’s very difficult to imagine responsive local government when a supervisor has almost 2 million constituents.”
