Sharron’s 2-Hitter Gives Lancers Title

Jennifer Sharron took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before finishing with a two-hitter and 14 strikeouts, leading Thousand Oaks High to its first Marmonte League softball title since 1992 with a 2-0 victory over Westlake on Thursday at Westlake.
The Lancers (23-3, 12-2 in league play) finished one game ahead of Camarillo. Westlake is 12-12-1, 7-6-1.
Erika Hanson singled home a run in the fourth and scored on a ground ball.
In other Marmonte League games:
Newbury Park 5, Agoura 1--Stacie Beshore pitched a three-hitter and struck out eight for the Panthers (18-9, 8-6) at Borchard Park.
Camarillo 6, Royal 0--Katherine Nevard (8-3) pitched a two-hitter, striking our nine and walking none, for the Scorpions (18-7, 11-4) at Rancho Simi Park.
Jessica Mendoza drove in two runs and had three hits, including two doubles, and stole two bases.
Simi Valley 11, Channel Islands 1--Lori Tande hit a grand slam and Brittney Green had a three-run home run for the Pioneers (20-6, 9-5) at Channel Islands.
Tande and Green combined on a two-hitter. Green (10-2) pitched the first four innings.
In other games:
Hoover 4, Glendale 0--Cori Herbert (17-7) pitched a one-hitter--allowing a fourth-inning single by Chrissy Paknik--struck out 10 and walked three to help the Tornadoes clinch a tie for the Pacific League title at Glendale (13-9, 7-3).
Carla Nanne’s two-run double sparked a four-run fourth inning for Hoover (18-8, 8-2).
Fillmore 26, Bishop Diego 0--Sandra Rodriguez had two hits and had four runs batted in for the Flashes (15-7, 8-2), who scored 20 runs in the fourth inning and clinched a share of the Tri-Valley League title at Fillmore.
La Reina 5, Oak Park 0--Danielle Field pitched a three-hitter and struck out seven for the Regals in a Tri-Valley League game at Oak Park.
La Reina (15-8-1, 8-2) finished in a three-way tie for first with Fillmore and St. Bonaventure.
Village Christian 3, Maranatha 1--Jaclyn Aranda (13-6) pitched a three-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one, and hit a solo home run for the Crusaders (16-9, 9-1) in an Alpha League finale at Village Christian.
Sarah Wheeler also hit a solo home run for Village Christian, which tied L.A. Baptist for the league title.
L.A. Baptist 13, Vasquez 1--Bre Guettler had five stolen bases and three hits to help the Knights (19-4, 9-1) clinch a share of the Alpha League title in a six-inning game at Vasquez.
Harvard-Westlake 8, Flintridge Sacred Heart 2--Anna Russell had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Wolverines (17-6, 4-6) in a Mission League game at Glorietta Park in Glendale.
Russell (16-6) pitched a six-hitter and struck out eight.
Saugus 1, Hart 0--Valerie Reyes drove in Amanda Melton with a sacrifice fly to right field in the fifth inning to lift the Centurions (22-5, 10-0) in a Foothill League game at Hart.
Nicole Giordano (22-5) pitched a three-hitter for Saugus. Amanda Fortune had six strikeouts in a two-hitter for the Indians (21-8, 7-3).
Burroughs 7, Canyon 0--Chantel Jimenez had two doubles and four RBIs and the Indians (15-10, 5-5) clinched a playoff spot in a Foothill League game at Olive Park.
