VIGILANTES ON DECK
Opponent--Chico Heat
Site--Saddleback College
Time--7:05 (all three games)
Radio--KKSM-AM 1320
TV--Cox Channel 37 A (audio only)
Records--Heat 0-0, Vigilantes 0-0.
Vigilante update--The field has been reworked, large grandstands have been built and seats have all been bolted in place. Now, the question is: How popular will the transplanted team from Long Beach be with those unwilling to brave the freeways north and south for major league games? Paul Anderson, who was 12-4 last season for the team when it was in Long Beach, will make the semi-historic first pitch.
Heat update--It’s only fitting that a team with no history helps make history in Mission Viejo. The Heat, in its first year, takes the place of Palm Springs in the Southern Division of the Western Baseball League. Like Buck Rodgers of the Vigilantes, the Heat’s Bill Plummer also has major league experience as a manager but for only one year. Plummer managed the Seattle Mariners in 1992, when the team finished 64-98.
