Latino Leader Group to Hear Judge, Lawyer

Municipal Judge Frances Munoz and attorney Rosemary J. Esparza will speak on the effects of the 1996 Immigration Reform Act at this month’s Latino Leadership Council meeting.

Topics of the presentation will include the congressional act’s impact on recent immigrants and employers who rely on immigrant labor. Other council business also will be discussed.

The Latino Leadership Council, which meets for quarterly breakfast sessions, is an organization that seeks to improve conditions for Latino residents and businesses, primarily in the city’s Westside. The Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce recently annexed the group.

Members also publish a newsletter, Que Pasa, network with business and civic leaders and provide a centralized voice for the city’s large Latino population. The annual membership fee is $25.
