Dog Owner Thanks Heaven-Sent Heroes

There are two heroes that I want to thank but have no other way of reaching.
On June 3, my 12-year-old miniature schnauzer, Pepper, was viciously attacked by a large dog. My 3 1/2-year-old grandson, Aldan, was within 3 feet of the assault. When I saw the dog come out of nowhere and lunge for Pepper, I began to run toward them. By the time I got there, the large assailant held my screaming little dog to the ground. His jaws were clamped tight around her throat. I was sure she would not survive.
Pulling at the dog’s collar with all of my strength, I feared I would not budge him. Crying for help, I was certain there could be none at that time of the afternoon.
Suddenly two well-dressed men came running toward us. Aldan stood wisely and maturely in place without moving. I had just pulled the dog from Pepper when one of the men grabbed him away from me. I’m sure that I would have been charged then had I not had help.
Our neighbor, Lisa Gentilcore, was already calling a veterinarian, ready to whisk us away. We were off before I could express my gratitude for what these men had done. It’s hard to imagine what could have happened to my beautiful grandson, Pepper and me had they not been on the scene.
We are lucky to live in the community of Camarillo where neighbors look out for each other. However, these two men went well beyond what I would expect from complete strangers. Whoever you are, I hope that you read this and know that I will always be wholeheartedly thankful for your quick response.
Pepper is healing well. My grandson, although shaken, is bolstered by the fact that in a time of near tragedy two superheroes arrived to help us. He keeps asking who you are. I just tell him you were gifts from God. We send you our most sincere appreciation.
