Blowers at Home in Seattle but Says He Misses L.A.

Former Dodger third baseman Mike Blowers, who re-signed with the Mariners in the off-season, gave the Mariners a scouting report on the Dodgers before the game.

“I’ve been looking forward to seeing these guys again, it looks like they’re all doing well,” Blowers said. “I miss them, so it’s good to see them.”

Blowers, who played 92 games for the Dodgers before suffering a season-ending knee injury last July, was happy to return to Seattle.

“I love it up here,” Blowers said. “This is home for me. This is where I spent the majority of my big league career.

“I wish things would have turned out differently and I could have stayed in L.A. I liked it there. I felt like I was just getting comfortable in my situation there and I blew out my knee.

“I’m very disappointed that I’m not back in L.A., but if I had to go anywhere, this is where I wanted to be.”

Blowers, who has played only 27 games, is batting .234 with two home runs and eight runs batted in.

“This lineup is pretty well set, there’s no place for me to play,” Blowers said. “But I knew that coming in. I knew that I was more of an insurance policy, but I kind of needed that situation this year because I’m just now getting to the point where I’m healthy enough to play.”

Dodger pitching coach Dave Wallace, who was miked for the game by the Fox Network, was upset after the network broadcast a conversation he had with starter Ramon Martinez in an area he thought was off-limits to TV.

After the Dodgers complained, a network spokesman assured the club that Wallace’s comments that were broadcast were harmless.

Raul Mondesi went hitless in four at-bats to end his eight-game hitting streak. . . . The Dodgers, who had 11 hits, have had 10 or more in their last four games.
