In regard to the letter from Jamie Berke (“Closed Captioning,” May 25) on the lack of closed captioning on her plane trip:

I, too, am deaf and rely on closed captioning for TV and video viewing. However, Ms. Berke, can’t you go 14 hours without the boob tube? Read a book! I would much rather have the airlines concentrate on my safety.
