Economic Development to Be Topic of Symposium
- Share via
A group of USC graduate students is scheduled to present economic development proposals today to dozens of Whittier business, civic and education leaders.
Sponsored by the nonprofit Whittier Area Economic Development Corp., the symposium at Whittier College’s Robinson Auditorium caps a semester study in which 13 of the university’s urban planning students drafted a 44-page report on the city’s economic opportunities.
Among the proposals in the report are the creation of a biomedical complex to incorporate area hospitals and new research firms into an office cluster along Whittier Boulevard. The report also suggests improving the appearance of Whittier schools and neighborhoods.
