Long Beach is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the motorist who shot motorcycle officer Brian Watt in the head and leg July 9.
Watt, 29, was shot after pulling over a speeding vehicle that had been carjacked. His helmet deflected one of the bullets, and authorities say he is expected to recover fully.
The main suspect is Aaron Hefflin, 29, an alleged associate of Compton’s Willow Street gang. He is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo on his chest.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police toll free at (888) 343-5444.
