Bullpen Helps Vigilantes Hold On

Reliever Steve Ceterko worked out of an eighth-inning jam and Kirt Kishita pitched a perfect ninth to help the Vigilantes defeat Tri-City, 7-5, Wednesday in front of an announced crowd of 2,415 in Pasco, Wash.
Starter John Homan earned the victory for the Vigilantes to improve to 2-1. Ceterko relieved Homan in the eighth, protecting a 6-5 lead, and got the final out, stranding the potential tying run on third.
Kishita struck out one to earn his ninth save for Mission Viejo (10-11).
Carl Nichols had two hits and three runs batted in and Sean Drinkwater and Corey Parker each had three hits for the Vigilantes, who took a 6-0 lead by scoring four runs in the fourth. Tri-City third baseman Nestor Serrano committed three errors in the inning.
Former Cal State Fullerton pitcher Chad Rolish (5-8) took the loss for Tri-City, allowing seven hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings.
The teams play the final game of the series at 1:05 p.m. today.
