Commerce-based Placo Products Co. is recalling about 140,000 Chinese-made “flying dolls” of a type that blinded a 5-year-old Maine child in 1996, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said. The winged plastic dolls, which take off from a launcher and spin in the air, have caused seven serious eye injuries when the wings break off, Placo said in a statement. The company was not available for further comment.
