St. John’s Regional Medical Center is offering low-cost childhood immunizations through September at various locations in Camarillo and Oxnard.
Vaccinations are available for tetanus, mumps, measles, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis, polio, hepatitis B and hemophilus influenza type B.
The cost is $5 per child, regardless of how many vaccinations the child receives. The family maximum is $15 no matter how many children in each immediate family receive shots.
“Each year, only 63% of Ventura County children are properly vaccinated,” said Rita Schumacher, spokesperson for St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
Medical center officials hope at least 90% of the county’s children will be properly vaccinated against life-threatening diseases by the year 2000, Schumacher said.
Infants and children through age 18 can receive vaccinations with a parent or legal guardian present. Bring immunization cards to record the new vaccinations and inform medical staff of vaccinations already received.
The immunization clinic will be held on seven dates at the following locations:
Sept. 2 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Santa Clara Chapel, 1333 E. Ventura Blvd., Oxnard.
Sept. 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. at South Oxnard Center, 200 E. Bard Road, Oxnard.
Sept. 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Camarillo Health Care District, 3639 E. Las Posas Road, Camarillo.
Sept. 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Santa Clara Church Parish Center, 323 South E St., Oxnard.
Sept. 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mar Vista Elementary School, 2382 Etting Road, Oxnard.

The immunization program is funded by Catholic Healthcare West, Ventura County Public Health and Livingston Nurses Assn. Foundation.
