More Fresh Faces in Team’s Makeup?

Two USC freshmen emerged as starters last season--offensive lineman Travis Claridge and linebacker Chris Claiborne--and there are a few candidates again this season.
Defensive back Antuan Simmons is pushing veterans at two positions--strong safety and the rover linebacker position--and either Antoine Harris or Lonnie Ford could start at tight end.
The other freshmen pressing for playing time are tailback Malaefou MacKenzie, who is competing with LaVale Woods and Petros Papadakis to back up Delon Washington; and Rod Perry, who probably won’t start but figures to play at receiver and perhaps return some punts.
