Jones, Laguna Hills Run Over La Mirada, 56-14

Michael Jones capped an outstanding three-year career with a remarkable 369 yards rushing and four touchdowns in 48 carries as Laguna Hills defeated La Mirada, 56-14, in the Southern Section Division VIII championship game Friday night before 7,500 at La Mirada.
Jones ran for 218 yards in 31 carries in the first half as Laguna Hills took a 35-7 halftime lead. On the first play of the second half, Jones ran 80 yards for a score.
DIVISION XI
Punter Tommy Breech ran 13 yards on a fake punt to gain a critical first down and set up the winning score in Lancaster Paraclete’s 8-6 victory over Banning before about 4,000 at Nicolet Middle School in Banning.
Breech made his play midway through the third quarter of a scoreless game. Running back Dominic Washington scored on a three-yard run five plays later.
DIVISION XII
Senior Jon Reed gained 228 yards in 16 carries and scored three touchdowns, including one in a 75-yard run, as Arrowhead Christian defeated Brentwood, 50-14, in the championship game at University of Redlands.
Arrowhead Christian (11-3) had 550 yards of total offense and limited Brentwood (11-3) to 132 in winning its second straight title.
CITY SECTION 3-A
An opportunistic defense gave way to a cavalcade of offensive points in the final 26 minutes as El Camino Real High won its first football title with a 42-0 victory over Carson in the 3-A final at the Coliseum.
Quincy Wright of El Camino Real (10-4) gained 123 of his 172 yards in the second half and scored four touchdowns.
