Taxpayer Advocate Plans Assembly Bid

Taxpayer advocate H. Jere Robings has announced plans to run for the state Assembly seat held by Nao Takasugi (R-Oxnard).
The Thousand Oaks resident announced his candidacy Friday after a ruling by the 9th Circuit Court upholding voter-approved term limits for elected officials.
The ruling precludes Takasugi from running for a fourth term in the 37th Assembly District, which includes Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Camarillo, Oxnard and Port Hueneme.
In 1994, Robings ran unsuccessfully for the 2nd District supervisorial seat vacated by county Supervisor Maria VanderKolk.
He has worked as a manager for Southern California Edison Co. and as a member of Rep. Elton Gallegly’s (R-Simi Valley) staff.
Robings is founder and president of the Ventura County Alliance of Taxpayers. He has been involved in a variety of issues including air pollution, transportation, agriculture and education.
He and his wife, Marie, moved to Oxnard in 1962 and have lived in Thousand Oaks since 1972.
