Ground, Round and Tasty, and Now Everyone Knows

“We’re not the only closet IKEA meatball lovers after all,” I shouted across the house to my boyfriend, who couldn’t believe that I’d found something about the subject in the magazine (“Some Assembly Required,” by Nancy Spiller, SoCal Style, Nov. 9).
The two of us have been post-shopping meatball dining at the warm little in-store cafe for years now and have enjoyed the thought that we might be the only ones in town onto this really wonderful little Swedish meatball dinner.
The saucy meatballs are truly delicious, the red potatoes and lingonberries a perfect accompaniment and--the best part--the generous portions are reasonably priced. You even get a dinner roll and a drink as part of the deal.
When I told my boyfriend that I was planning on sending you this letter, he said, “Don’t be dumb. If everyone finds out about it, we’ll never get a seat at the cafe again.”
Probably true. But I just couldn’t resist putting in my two cents’ worth.
Even my pre-teenager, who hates everything edible (unless it’s French-fried), reminds me as I leave the house, headed for IKEA: “Don’t forget to bring me a doggy bag, Mom.”
Need I say more?
