U.S. Denies Role in Havana Hotel Blasts

A State Department spokesman assailed Cuba for making what he said were unsupported charges of a U.S. connection in the bombing of two Havana hotels. “There’s no evidence whatsoever that Americans were behind it,” said spokesman Nicholas Burns. “And needless to say, the United States government had absolutely nothing to do with this.” Cuban Interior Ministry officials have said that those responsible for the Saturday blasts and the materials used came from the United States. The two small bombs slightly injured three people.
