JetHawk Offense Returns in 7-5 Win Over Quakes

The Lancaster JetHawks ended a three-game losing streak and avoided a four-game sweep to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes with a 7-5 victory Monday in a California League game in front of 3,350 at Lancaster Municipal Stadium.
The JetHawks (48-47, 15-10 in the second half) had 15 hits, including a two-run home run from second baseman Jason Regan and a two-run single by right fielder Tarrik Brock, and hung on after taking a 6-2 lead into the eighth inning.
Left-hander Damaso Marte (3-6) allowed four runs and seven hits but struck out 10 in 7 1/3 innings. Sean Spencer earned his ninth save by holding the Quakes (14-11) to one run in the final 1 2/3 innings. Jim Barron (0-4) took the loss for Rancho Cucamonga.
The JetHawks trailed, 1-0, after Ben Davis hit a bases-empty home run to left-center field for Rancho Cucamonga in the top of the second. But with two outs in the third, Lancaster scored three times.
Joel Ramirez doubled down the left-field line. Regan followed with his homer to center field, his 11th in 25 games. Yuni Kim’s RBI single later in the inning made it 3-1, JetHawks. In the sixth, Kim and Shawn Buhner scored on Brock’s one-out single to center for a 5-2 lead.
Regan was three-for-three. Former Cal State Northridge outfielder Greg Shockey had three hits for the Quakes.
