Laurel Elementary School Principal Tim Harvey, a longtime Orange County educator, will leave the city’s school district Aug. 1 for an administrative job in the La Habra City School District, officials said.
Harvey, who will be La Habra’s assistant superintendent of administrative services, began teaching at Yorba Junior High School in 1969. He moved to Orange Unified School District in 1975 and served in a variety of administrative positions.
He came to Brea in 1983 as principal of Fanning Elementary School and took his current job in 1994. Harvey has also worked as a teacher at Santa Ana College, Whittier College and Cal State Fullerton.
In 1990, Harvey received a California Educator Award.
“Tim will be missed in our district, but we understand what a good professional move this will be for him,” Brea Supt. Peggy Lynch said.
