Injury Sidelines Yankees’ Williams

All-Star center fielder Bernie Williams was placed on the disabled list by the New York Yankees--for the second time in a month--because of a strained left hamstring.
The Yankees have recalled outfielder Scott Pose from triple-A Columbus to take Williams’ spot on the roster.

The Kansas City Royals sent outfielder Jon Nunnally and minor-league utility player Chris Stynes to the Cincinnati Reds for reliever Hector Carrasco and minor-league reliever Scott Service. The Royals also agreed to terms with right-hander Dan Reichert, their No. 1 pick in last month’s amateur draft.

The Baltimore Orioles called up infielder Aaron Ledesma from triple-A Rochester to replace the roster spot of Pete Incaviglia, who was designated for assignment a day earlier.
