Aaron Scheffer allowed one hit in 3 1/3 innings of relief and Denny Bonilla worked out of trouble in the ninth inning to lead the Lancaster JetHawks to a 7-5 victory over the Lake Elsinore Storm before 4,100 at Lake Elsinore Diamond.
Bonilla took a three-run lead to the ninth, but gave up a triple and a balk to make it 7-5. With one out, he got Greg Morris to hit into a double play to secure his third save. Scheffer (10-2) relieved Damaso Marte in the fifth inning and did not allow a run.
The JetHawks (52-48, 19-11 in the second half) had 14 hits. James Clifford hit his 23rd homer for Lancaster.
