A Lynwood man has been ordered to stand trial on charges of kidnapping three former girlfriends and holding them as sex slaves for a month in houses in Lynwood and Monrovia.
The women, ages 23, 17 and 16, were found in August in a quiet house on Lemon Avenue in Monrovia. Police said they chased Carlos Velasquez, 24, back to Lynwood before arresting him.
After a preliminary hearing in Arcadia Municipal Court on Monday, Velasquez was ordered to stand trial on charges of slavery, rape, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. Deputy Dist. Atty. Robert Hale said Velasquez once tried to sell one captive to another man.
If convicted of all charges, Velasquez faces 82 years to life in prison, Hale said. Arraignment is set for Nov. 2 in Pasadena Superior Court.
