Opponent--New England Blizzard.
Site--Hartford Civic Center.
Time--4 PST.
Records--Long Beach 5-3, New England 4-4.
Update--The StingRays are 2-1 entering the final game of their Eastern trip. Long Beach beat Philadelphia and Atlanta on back-to-back nights, then lost to Columbus on Sunday, 78-61. Reserve guard Dana Wilkerson, a 1980s Long Beach State standout, had a brilliant second half against Columbus, making two acrobatic shots, showing some exceptional passing skills and scoring nine points in 16 minutes. Wilkerson, 5 feet 6, obtained in a preseason trade from Philadelphia for Michelle Marciniak, sprained her ankle the night before training camp began and missed the preseason. Hartford is led by Carolyn Jones, the ABL’s No. 2 scorer at 21.5 points a game, but most eyes lately have been on 6-7 Kara Wolters, the high-dollar UConn rookie. New England Coach K.C. Jones kept her minutes to a minimum at the outset, but she has started five consecutive games, is averaging 20.8 minutes and leads the league in blocked shots at 2.0 a game.
