The Regional Center of Orange County is living up to its name.
The private, nonprofit agency, which offers aid to the developmentally disabled, has established offices in the central and southern areas of the county. On Tuesday, directors opened a center specifically to serve North County cities.
“Our overall goal is to be easily available to the people we serve,” said Bill Bowman, the agency’s executive director.
Funded by the state and the federal Medicaid program, the Regional Center serves nearly 10,000 children and adults with disabilities such as mental retardation, epilepsy, autism and cerebral palsy.
The disabled and their families can get help with residential care, day programs, transportation and other needs, agency officials said.
The new office is at 3111 N. Tustin St., Suite 150, in Orange, and serves residents of Anaheim, Brea, Fullerton, La Habra, La Habra Heights, Placentia and Yorba Linda.
