In another 4-A first-round game:
Westchester 33, Kennedy 5--Special teams play made the difference for second-seeded Westchester on the Comets’ home field.
Westchester’s Charles Drake returned a punt 93 yards for a touchdown to give the Comets (11-0) a 14-3 lead in the second quarter.
Eugene Childs also went 93 yards to score for Westchester on the second-half kickoff.
Kennedy (6-5) scored on its first and last possessions.
Ramiro Esqueda kicked a 30-yard field goal with 5:21 remaining in the first quarter to cap a 14-play, 81-yard drive.
Kennedy’s final points came when Westchester punter James Thompson was tackled in the Comets’ end zone by two defenders with 47 seconds to play.
Kennedy quarterback Ray Rodriguez completed 17 of 29 passes for 93 yards with two interceptions. Tight end Matt Garnas had five receptions for 55 yards.
