The annual “Tree of Life & Festival of Lights,” a public Christmas tree and Menorah lighting benefiting the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, takes place Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the ABC Entertainment Center and adjacent Century Plaza Towers Courtyard in Century City.
Actor Alan Thicke will serve as master of ceremonies, and the actual tree lighting will be done by former basketball star Magic Johnson.
Other scheduled performers include Stuart Damon (“General Hospital”) as Santa Claus, members from the casts of “Rent” and “Ragtime,” Broadway star Davis Gaines, dancers from L.A. Classical Ballet performing scenes from “The Nutcracker,” and singers Maureen McGovern and Graham Nash.
Admission to the event--which includes holiday refreshments, a shopping boutique and a raffle of celebrity-designed ornaments--is free.
