Bike Station Gets Recognition for Reducing Congestion
- Share via
An innovative downtown bike station has been honored by the Environmental Protection Agency as a transportation improvement that enhances the community.
The first facility of its kind in the United States, the Bikestation is a full-service center which offers free secure bike parking, rentals, repairs, a cafe, restroom and changing area, and links to public transportation.
Inspired by facilities in Europe and Japan, the city-owned Bikestation opened in March 1996 and is located at The Promenade and First Street.
