Guilds to Produce ‘Blacklist’ Event
Four entertainment guilds--the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, the Directors Guild of America, the Screen Actors Guild, and Writers Guild of America, West--will co-produce “Hollywood Remembers the Blacklist,” a 50th anniversary commemoration, on Oct. 27 at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills.
The event, which will include film clips, live commentary and dramatic re-creations of the House Un-American Activities Committee hearings, will “remember those who suffered through those horrific times” in an effort to “assure political despotism will never again be allowed to flourish in our nation.”
A limited number of tickets will be available to the public, through the guilds, and the event will be videotaped for a possible future TV broadcast.
