Anna Lembke, a senior at Ocean View High, has made an oral commitment to attend Pepperdine to play women’s basketball, Seahawks’ Coach Bill Seibert said Monday.
Lembke, a 6-3 center, averaged 15.8 points and 8.9 rebounds last year, and led the county with a 66.1% shooting percentage. She was a Times All-Orange County second-team selection, and shared Golden West League co-most valuable players with teammate Jennifer Tuiolosega.

Lindsay Phillips, a senior at Marina, has made an oral commitment to attend Pepperdine to play women’s volleyball, said her club coach, Charlie Brande.
Phillips, a 6-0 outside hitter, chose Pepperdine over UCLA, Long Beach State and USC.
She was an all-league player in the Sunset League as a junior.

La Verne Lutheran has dropped its football program, leaving Capistrano Valley Christian without a game this weekend.
First-year Eagle Athletic Director Keith Patefield said he was informed that because of injuries La Verne Lutheran has not been able to field enough players to play its last two games. Although Capistrano Valley would prefer to find a replacement opponent, Patefield said he believes the Eagles will be credited with a forfeit victory, bringing its overall record to 2-4 and its Victory League mark to 2-1.
“It’s really too late to fill the slot,” Patefield said Monday. “I’ve been on the phone all day and I haven’t come up with anything yet.”
