Cabbie Accused of Fabricating Mugging

MIAMI — A taxi driver has been charged with filing a false police report after telling officers that three passengers had mugged him and thrown him from his taxi.

Police found driver Cristobal Albaladejo, bruised and bleeding, lying outside his cab by the side of the road Tuesday.

Paramedics were called to the scene to treat him for stab wounds and other injuries. But under questioning by police, Albaladejo revealed he inflicted the wounds himself, a police statement said.

The driver said he had lost his money gambling and was unable to pay the cab owner, police said.
