For First Lady, a Birthday Surprise

When it comes to birthday surprises, President Clinton can keep a secret. After attending a gala dinner, with his wife, Hillary, aides said the president held his tongue until his motorcade had pulled into the parking lot of a swank hotel. Inside, about 100 friends and daughter, Chelsea, home from Stanford University, waited to surprise Mrs. Clinton on the eve of her 50th birthday. “It was a huge surprise for the first lady,” spokeswoman Marsha Berry said.
