With thousands of “cam” sites broadcasting live pictures to anyone with an Internet connection, Southern California, ever the leader in cyber trifles, is not to be denied.
Beach Cam (https://www.westland.net/beachcam/index.html) captures the boardwalk and bike path in Venice Beach. One of the best for people-watching.
DramaCam (https://www.castboy.com). Watch Castboy (a.k.a. Billy Damota) in his Hollywood home office, where he is often shirtless at his computer. Site includes Damota’s tribute to Timothy Leary and photo archive of “Women Who Have Pissed Me Off.”
Surfline Online (https://www.surfline.com/surfcam.html) . The cams at Topanga Point and the Huntington Beach Pier are handy for inland surfers who want to check conditions before making the drive.
USC TommyCam (https://www.usc.edu/dept/TommyCam/) looks out at the bronze statue of Tommy Trojan. Good views of loitering Orange County gene pool.
Hollywood Sign (https://rfx.rfx.com:80/hollywood/index.html). L.A.’s most famous Web cam offers a Quicktime movie of images from the past 24 hours.
KCRW’s studio cam (https://www.kcrw.org/a/index.html) lets the idly curious glimpse Chris Douridas gazing earnestly at his “Morning Becomes Eclectic” guests.
