Blasts Rock 3 Hotels; Italian Tourist Killed
- Share via
Explosions, believed to be caused by small bombs, hit three seaside hotels in Havana, killing one man, hotel officials and witnesses said. The Italian Embassy said the victim was an Italian tourist. The blasts occurred within short intervals of each other at the Copacabana, Chateau and Triton hotels along the same stretch of seafront in the capital’s Playa district. All three are used by foreign tourists and businesspeople visiting the Communist-ruled Caribbean island. The hotels were quickly sealed off by police. No one has claimed responsibility for the explosions.
