Nature Park’s Reopening Gets City Council Nod
- Share via
The City Council this week took the first steps to reopen the city’s Nature Park, which was closed eight years ago because of budget cuts.
The 5.75-acre park on Ball Road is used as a catch basin for winter storm runoff and as a nature area the rest of the year.
Marvin DeCarlo, director of the Recreation and Park District, said the council’s approval means city employees can move ahead with $5,000 in repairs and clean-up work. Signs with information about the park’s flora and fauna also must be replaced and updated. The park is expected to reopen by mid-1998.
