PREP FOOTBALL GAMES AT A GLANCE
No. 8 Esperanza (0-0) vs. No. 5 Servite (0-0)
7 P.M. FRIDAY
CAL STATE FULLERTON
This has the makings of a terrific North County rivalry if tonight’s game creates the same excitement as last year’s initial meeting, won by Servite, 24-20, on its final possession. Though the teams are ranked in preseason polls, both the Aztecs and Friars both took big hits from graduation at quarterback and wide receiver. So running and defense figure to be keys. Servite’s Vince Reed, who scored the winning touchdown last year with 49 seconds remaining, is a known quantity. Brett Garrison who starts at running back for Esperanza, hopes to make his mark with the help of a an experienced offensive line.
