Firefighters responded to two industrial building fires on the same street Wednesday night in Anaheim and Fullerton.
A heating plate left unattended started a fire at University Frames, 940 E. Orangethorpe Ave. in Anaheim, just before 9 p.m., destroying one unit. Two neighboring units had heat, smoke and water damage, Fire Department spokeswoman Tabby Cato said.
One firefighter suffered a second-degree burn to his calf. Damage was estimated at $300,000.
The other fire occurred at 8:17 p.m. in an industrial building at 1409 E. Orangethorpe Ave. A sprinkler system helped to contain the fire to one room, said Larry Greene, Fullerton Fire Department division chief.
Combustible oily rags caused the fire through spontaneous combustion, he said.
The furniture and bedding manufacturing businesses suffered $100,000 in damage, Greene said.
