Asian ‘Tigers’

Re “The ‘Tigers’ of Asia Stumble,” editorial, Sept. 8:

Your editorial gives a realistic picture of the current economic scenario in Southeast Asia. Continued dependence on exports, foreign markets and negligence of domestic economic problems invariably result in short-term prosperity, which these countries enjoyed for the last decade or so. Unless a balanced recovery plan is introduced now, disastrous consequences may follow.

Your editorial should also act as a timely warning to India, where the same story is slowly unfolding.
