Paniagua Paces Santa Ana Past Orange Coast

Yesenia Paniagua’s fifth-inning RBI single gave Santa Ana the lead in a 6-4 victory over Orange Coast in Orange Empire Conference softball Friday at Santa Ana.
Orange Coast (8-19 overall), which threatened to win its first conference game, took a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning. But Santa Ana (15-12, 9-5) brought in reliever Erica Pilkington, who shut down the Pirates. OCC has lost 15 consecutive conference games.
In Orange Empire Conference softball:
Saddleback 3, Fullerton 2--Tara Kroener (16-4), who leads the conference in victories, pitched a one-hitter for Saddleback (20-7, 11-4), which moved alone into second place behind Cypress. Saddleback scored two runs in the fifth to tie the score and scored one in the sixth when Kroener scored on Lisa Keenan’s ground out. Fullerton is 15-10, 9-5.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:
Orange Coast 3, San Diego Mesa 0--Josh Richardson had 16 kills for OCC (16-1, 12-1), which won 15-13, 15-9, 15-8.
