Starting April 18, many telephone customers will be saying hello to California’s newest area code--949.
Prefixes that will be in the new 949 area code are: 515, 548, 574, 629, 631, 640, 642, 644, 645, 646, 650, 673, 675, 717, 718, 719, 720, 721, 722, 723, 729, 759 and 760.

New Area Code--A graphic Wednesday about the new 949 area code included an incomplete list of prefixes that will be affected. Starting April 18, the following prefixes will be in the new 949 area code:

* 509, 512, 515, 548, 551-553, 559, 574, 580-584, 586-589, 595, 597-599
* 602-605, 622, 623, 629, 631, 640, 642-646, 650, 651, 653-655, 660, 661, 673, 675, 686, 697, 699
* 706, 707, 713, 715-729, 733, 737, 752, 753, 756, 757, 759, 760, 766-768, 770, 784, 786, 788-791, 793-795, 797, 798
