St. Margaret’s Abbey and Amber Arnold have committed to play softball at Miami of Ohio, Tartans Coach Nancy Linaweaver said.
The sisters, who take turns pitching and catching, have a combined record of 8-1 going into today’s Academy League game with Fairmont. They have 143 strikeouts between them.

D.J. Yeilding, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound two-meter defenseman from San Clemente, has committed to play water polo at UCLA, his father, Dan Yeilding, said.
A first-team All-Southern Section Division I selection, Yeilding also played on the 17-and-under national team.

Corona del Mar left fielder Ryan Achterberg has committed to play baseball at Princeton, according to his father, Denny Achterberg.
Ryan Achterberg is hitting .560 for the Sea Kings.

Amber Stockstill, a forward on the Huntington Beach High School field hockey team, signed a letter of intent with California, her mother, Patty, said Tuesday.

Aaron Hook, girls’ varsity soccer coach at Santa Ana High, has announced his resignation in order to begin work on his master’s degree. A walk-on coach, Hook will continue to teach at Carr Intermediate School in Santa Ana.
Roman Reyna, girls’ varsity basketball coach, also announced his resignation. He is returning to college to complete his bachelor’s degree and will remain at Santa Ana as a lower-level walk-on coach.
