Volunteers Sought to Help Save Cats
Believing that unwanted feral cats in Ventura County should be caught and neutered rather than euthanized, Joan Farber of Oxnard is looking for volunteers to join her grass-roots group called Friends of Cats in Need.
Farber said she loves cats and wants to eliminate unwanted feral, or wild, cat colonies.
“A trap, neuter, vaccinate and release program is the goal,” Farber said. “Ultimately, I’d like to develop a cat haven for unwanted cats that includes low-cost, if not free, neutering.”
Farber is also looking for veterinarians who would spay or neuter the cats.
Farber thinks that catching and neutering cats instead of euthanizing them would save public money in the long run. “And it’s obviously more humane,” she said.
Those interested in helping her trap feral cats for neutering may call her at 659-5145.
