Ex-UCLA Player Dollar Gets Head Coaching Job

Former UCLA guard Cameron Dollar was named men’s basketball coach at Southern California College in Costa Mesa on Thursday. Dollar, 22, replaces Bill Reynolds, who retired at the end of last season.
“I didn’t think it would materialize like this,” Dollar said in a phone interview from UC Irvine, where he worked one season as an assistant to Pat Douglass. “I look forward to the challenge. It’s a great league with a lot of experienced coaches.”
Southern California, an NAIA school that plays in the Golden State Athletic Conference, was 19-15 last season.
As a sophomore, Dollar was a key member on UCLA’s 11th NCAA championship team in 1995. In the championship game against Arkansas, he stepped in at point guard for starter Tyus Edney, who sprained his wrist in the semifinals.
