A motorcyclist was killed Sunday after losing control of his Harley-Davidson and sliding under the wheels of a tractor-trailer near Arleta, authorities said.
The unidentified cyclist was traveling north on the Golden State Freeway at Osborne Street about 4:20 p.m. when he tried to pass between a tanker truck and another vehicle, California Highway Patrol Officer Karen Faciane said.
The motorcyclist, a Burbank resident believed to be in his 30s, lost control and fell under the truck’s left rear wheels, Faciane said.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis said the man was taken to Providence-Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. He was pronounced dead at 5:02 p.m.
